Hey Folks!
I hope you like the new website! We just fired it up and we’re already getting great comments about it! I want to thank Jimmy Shifflett for his work on the neat new logo (He knows “photoshop”) and my crack team of writers and reporters who have been scouring Beaver Hollow and Raleigh County for breaking news!
Anyhoo, enjoy and don’t forget to let us know what you think!!!

Obituary
Beaver Hollow — One of our own, Bobby McCoy, will be laid to rest at the Ivy Ridge Cemetery. Bobby was killed in an accident atop High Rock Mountain on Friday at approximately 4:15pm. He was currently working for Triple R when an explosive detonated prematurely. Jim Duncan of the Beaver Creek Police Department issued this statement yesterday. “We believe that this was an accident. There are no current plans to pursue a criminal angle in Bobby’s death.”
Bobby is survived by his mother Audrey and sister Tess (Lord knows where the boy’s father is!)

Triple R Issues Statement
Raleigh County — Eugene Higgins, president of Raleigh Removal and Renewal issued the following press release following the death of miner Bobby McCoy… “Raleigh Removal and Renewal has decided to temporarily shut down its operations in lieu of the accident that killed one of our most beloved workers, Bobby McCoy.”
Mr. Higgins also issued a statement to the Daily Sun concerning the status of mining on High Rock mountain – a mountain that has been under a mining contract by Triple R since this spring… “Although the High Rock site has been closed until further investigation can be conducted by our engineers and local and federal authorities, I have decided to continue to pay all employees their standard wages until such a time when excavation resumes.”
Mr. Higgins (normally known to be Raleigh’s biggest penny-pincher!) is being hailed by local and state lawmakers as a shining example of a business taking care of their employees during trying times.

Chickens Missing – Bear Blamed
Jimmy Meister reports that 8 of his 25 chickens have gone missing in the past 4 days. Tom Porter of the Raleigh police force has been investigating the disappearances. “We’ve seen an increased emergence of black bears in the area. We think that’s what’s taking the chickens. We ask folks to keep their eyes out but be careful.”

Strange lights reported near Plum Creek
Nelson Hicks of Blue Berry Lane reported that he saw a strange blue light floating out near his property last night. “I’m tellin’ ya, it was the prettiest thing I ever did see. I decided to follow it a bit and nearly fell into an old well.”
Editors note: There’s a still back by that old well, if you catch my drift…

Oh, you’re about to make some serious money now – some very nice money. Of course, you’ll have to work for it, and work hard, too – but with the rewards you’ve got waiting for you, even that won’t bother you. If there’s a bonus or raise en route, terrific. Think of just how badly you can spoil your sweetheart!

New Road Construction Project Begins
You know how badly Emmet Street needs to be repaired? Well, it appears that the fine folks at WVDOT have decided to shut it down between Main and Owl Drive. Potholes aren’t the only thing they are fixing. The bridge over Ivy reservoir is getting repaired as well. They SAY it will be done by September…
